For anyone that remembers the bent axle fiasco, it has come back to haunt me. It started with a flat tier. I noticed one of the shackles that hold the rear axle to the springs broke. I suspect it was bent and straighten. Any way 24 hours later we were towed to a welder to get it fixed. We were 6 miles inside Canada with a pay phone in Alaska. We crossed the border three times and really know the rout well. We are in Tok Alaska with Sherry. Life is good. Hopefully the camper will be on the road tomorrow. Here are some pitchers from the blown tire to the tow.

  1. It's not a REAL Heyne family trip until something breaks! Good luck, and keep having fun. :p

  4. Hi Joel and Darlene,

Sounds like you guys are having a ball! I just got caught up on your journal, and saw that you went right by us, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. So funny, small world! I hope everyone has been polite and nice to you as you traveled through Canada ;) Our best to you both, safe travels and we look forward to reading more. Thanks!
